QoS Pre-Configure Mechanism on DiffServ Mobile IPv6 Networks

چکیده
Next-generation wireless/mobile networks will be IP-based cellular networks integrating Internet with the existing cellular networks and Mobile IPv6 seems to be the proper next-generation wireless protocol. Mobile IPv6 is proposed to remain a device reachable even though the device roams away from one network to another. But Mobile IPv6 networks can only provide best-effort services and most studies show that current protocols, in general, fall short from satisfying the performance requirements for real-time applications such as VoIP applications especially when the networks are busy. That is, real-time applications need other mechanisms to guarantee the Quality of Services. This paper contributes a method called QoS Pre-Configure Mechanism to provide QoS on Mobile IPv6 Networks. This mechanism processes Authentication, Authorization, Accounting (AAA) and QoS parameters auto-contribution during the session initiation process by extending the Session Initial Protocol. Furthermore, roaming users can keep QoS guaranteed communications after attaching to foreign networks in the mechanism. We implemented the Voice over Mobile IPv6 software named NIC-Phone which supported QoS Pre-Configure Mechanism, and ran it on a Mobile IPv6 test-bed with DiffServ support. The experiments showed that the VoIP application worked well and gained speech quality on mobile IPv6 networks even when the mobile device was roaming. Be keen on the delay, jitter and lost-rate of the reality application, the results of experiments showed that our mechanism could provide high performance, especially when the networks were busy.

A Fuzzy Based Three Color Meter/Marker for Diffserv Networks (RESEARCH NOTE)
Differentiated Services (Diffserv) which was proposed by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), is a scalable and robust model for providing the end-to-end QoS. In the Diffserv networks, metering mechanisms are used to measure traffic stream. The single rate Three Color Meter (srTCM) [1],which was proposed by IETF, meters an IP packet stream and marks its packets either green, yellow, or red....

In mobile/wireless 1P network where frequent mobility is encountered, it is required to accommodate Internet Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms such as Differentiated Services (DiftServ) for mobile hosts. In this paper, we consider the issue of integration of mobile 1P and DiffServ including handoff condition and propose the schemes with hierarchical agent architecture for supporting QoS in mo...

The aspiration of Mobile IPv6 is to provide uninterrupted network connectivity while the mobile node is moving between different access points or domains. Nonetheless, it does not provide QoS guaranteed to its users same as the traditional Internet protocol IP. It merely can provide Best-Effort (BE) service to all its applications despite of the application requirements. The future wireless net...
متن کاملDiffServ QoS Provisioning for Real Time Traffic in Frequent Handoff MobileIPv6 Networks
The next-generation mobile networks are evolving towards a versatile IP-based network that can provide various real-time multimedia services to mobile users. Two major challenges in establishing such a wireless mobile Internet are support of fast handoff and provision of quality of service (QoS) over IP-based wireless access networks. In this article, DiffServ resource allocation architecture i...
متن کاملQoS in Mobile IPv6
As we know, there are two types of Internet Quality of Service (QoS): Intergrated Services (IntServ) and differentiated Services (DiffServ). They are designed in the context of a static environments (fixed hosts and networks) and as a result, these schemes are not fully adapted to mobile environments, especially when Mobile IP is used as the mobility management protocol. In this paper a new two...
